September is here and with it the return to routine, work and boxing. To avoid post-vacation syndrome, we propose 5 plans to do with the boxing community in September and take advantage of the last weeks of summer.
Go to a championship
Crossfit competitions are always the best plan to enjoy a fun getaway with your boxing colleagues, either because you compete or because you are going to cheer on your teammates.
Another good excuse is to take advantage of the trip to discover a city and if you are one of the lucky ones who have vacations in September, take the opportunity to rest a few more days.
What crossfit championships are there in September in Spain?
- Spanish Throwdown: September 6-8 in Madrid
- The Nord Encounter : September 14-15 in Santoña (Cantabria)
- European Showdown: September 20-22 in Barcelona
- Lanzarote Summer Challenge : September 28-29 in the Canary Islands
Stand up paddle boarding
We have seen this sport at the 2019 CrossFit Games (although the athletes rowed with their arms) and unless your box is near the sea or a swamp, it is very difficult to include it in your training.
So you already have a weekend plan with the community to travel to the coast and sign up for an intensive Paddle Surf in September.
Benefits of paddle surfing for crossfit
- Coordination and balance: Working on an unstable element such as a surfboard in the water forces you to maintain balance and know how to coordinate the movements of your arms and movements of your feet to avoid falling into the water.
- Muscular work of arms, legs and core : Balance on the board requires muscular effort from your entire body, and mainly from your core. In addition, you will continue working your strength but in a different way, which will be good to rest your muscles from so much iron.
- Cardio : Until you get the hang of stand-up paddling on a board, you won't do much cardio. But if you want to do like in the Games and row lying down with your arms, you can do races that test your resistance and that of your companions.
- Outdoors : Playing sports outdoors is always a great benefit for your health. The sun, the sea breeze and the iodine are beneficial for your body and your spirit.
Remember that you have to hydrate yourself correctly, especially in high temperatures, and use sun protection cream or protective clothing to avoid burns and sunstroke.
WOD + Barcacoa: a classic that never fails
Is your community not very traveling or are they already tired of traveling half the world for their Instagram posturing? No problem .
Organize a special WOD and barbecue with good meat, vegetables and beers !!
It is an infallible plan that you will surely love in the box to start the new year on the right foot, forget about the post-vacation syndrome and catch up.
This event would have to be mandatory in all pits at the beginning of September . Nothing unites more than suffering, eating and toasting together.
Boot Camp
If you take the Games very seriously and want to go well prepared for the October Open to take the Fittest in Spain title from Alexander Anasagasti , bootcamps are your plan.
Many boxes offer intensive seminars and training in the summer to work on a specific exercise or perfect all your CrossFit skills.
Find the bootcamp that motivates you the most and gather your boxing colleagues to organize an intense weekend of training.
Another option is to propose to your coaches to organize a bootcamp for the entire boxing community and save you the trip. Surely the idea interests more than one.
Yoga and meditation retreat
If, on the contrary, what you want is to start the course with calm and serenity, and improve your mobility , yoga, meditation and mindfulness retreats are for you.
As with bootcamps , you can look for a destination in another city or propose that plan in your box to organize a seminar.
The practice of yoga and meditation are very beneficial for health but also for CrossFit.
On the one hand, you work on joint mobility, balance, breathing and strength. On the other hand, you work on concentration and attention to your body, two key elements of sports psychology.
You will also learn to control the stress of competitions or the negative thoughts that prevent you from moving forward.
A good crossfitter, like any good athlete, works his mind as well as his body to win a competition.
And you, what crossfit plan do you recommend to do with the community in September?
