How to choose Cross Training grips? Guide to choosing the street according to your needs

Depending on the characteristics and use of each person, it is more advisable to choose one street model or another. The variables that must be taken into account so that the choice is appropriate are:

  1. Body weight
  2. Training level

The combination of both factors will result in a track that adapts to our needs, lasts over time and is comfortable for us during training.

What are street lights and what are they for?

The grips are a protective accessory for the hands when practicing Cross Training. They are used above all when performing exercises – mainly gymnastics – in which friction is intense, to prevent the appearance of calluses and wounds.

The straps cover the palm of the hand and are held on the wrist, adapting to each person, serving as support and protection. They are normally held in 2 or 3 fingers through holes, although there are also grips without holes. The objective in both models is the same, to protect the athlete's hands. We will see the differences later.

If you want to know more about the types of grips, how to wash them or how to use them, you can consult our post Cross Training Grips: what they are, what they are for, how to choose them and use them.

Types of streets

Raven Grips

They are the thinnest grips with only 1mm thickness. Being so thin, they are not recommended for people with a high body weight and training level, as they would suffer a lot of tension and wear out very quickly, even causing them to break.

They are made of synthetic leather, like all our shoulder straps. With these grips you will feel full contact with the bar and you will not lose grip. They are perfect for pull-ups and people who practice calisthenics.

    Rx Grips

Rx handlebars are one of the favorite options for our users. It is 1.8mm thick, which makes them resistant and durable. They are made with carbon fiber and have spectacular grip.

Thanks to the material and medium thickness, they are very versatile grips. They are recommended for the vast majority of people. They are the perfect grips for the user who has been practicing Cross Training for some time and is looking for an economical but durable option.

    Falcon Grips

The Falcon handles are sisters of the previous handles. The difference is that their 2mm thickness makes them the most resistant grips on the market. They are recommended for people with a very high training volume and body weight. Thanks to their thickness, they are preferred by many athletes.

Super resistant, maximum durability and now with a 0.08mm inner layer to give you softer touch and less friction with the palm of your hand.

      Goshawk Grips

The Azor grips are Picsil's grips par excellence. They are the favorites of athletes like Fabi Beneito. They are 1.8mm thick with a soft interior to protect your hands. Their level of protection and durability is high, which makes them the best quality-priced grips in our entire range.

They are aimed at the most demanding users and with a very high training volume , we could even say professional .

        Eagle Grips

The Eagle grips are thin, soft, resistant and with spectacular grip thanks to Micro Diamond technology. They have a thickness of 1.1mm, so they are not suitable for users with a very high body weight.

In addition, they have the added bonus that thanks to their fabric, the magnesium adheres better and the grip on the bar is even greater.

          Golden Eagle Grips

The Golden Eagle grips with the improved version of the grips mentioned above. They are the only streets without holes to date. They have a thickness of 1.8mm with the improved 'Micro Diamond' fabric that will make your grip greater. In addition, the wrist part has been improved, making it thicker to increase protection and comfort.

They are the perfect grips for a competition thanks to their lightness, grip and speed in transitions.

They are not suitable for people with a high body weight, since the fabric is more fragile than that of other grips and the 'Micro Diamond' technology could deteriorate quickly, exposing the protective layer.

            Condor Grips

The Condor Grips are another of PicSil's grips without holes. They are made with a special fabric called Technical Fabric, which guarantees good grip and maximum comfort when you hang from the bar.

They are probably our most versatile grips, suitable for all types of athletes. They are a little thicker than the rest and also softer. But they combine resistance and grip in a very balanced way, which makes them perfect for high training volumes. In fact, they are Roman Khrennikov's favorites.

It doesn't matter what your level is, it is a perfect track for both athletes who have just started doing Cross Training, and for athletes who have a very advanced level.

They allow you to make the grip you want, but thanks to their level of resistance, if you do the so-called 'suicide grip' (which consists of grabbing the bar only from above, including the thumb), the grip will not break.

Streets with or without holes ?

              Streets with holes

Grips with holes usually have 2 or 3 holes through which the fingers are inserted. As a general rule, a larger hand will prefer a 3-hole grip and a smaller hand will be more comfortable with a 2-hole grip. But like everything, tastes are very personal and the operation is the same.

              Advantages of handlebars with holes:

              1. You can choose whether or not to put your fingers in. This way you will have 2in1. There are exercises that require more contact, such as ring exercises, where it is more advisable to use grips with holes, especially if you are a beginner.
              2. You can do the fold. By inserting your fingers you can make a fold right in the area where calluses form, which will give you greater protection against friction.

              Streets without holes

In grips without holes the fingers are exposed and there is no contact between the bar and the palm of the hand. Our version of grips without holes is called Golden Eagle Grip . It is a track designed for the most demanding athletes. The palm surface is larger to offer greater protection, as is the wristband area, which is thicker for greater support and comfort.

              Advantages of streets without holes

              1. Faster transitions. By not having your fingers stuck in the holes, transitions between exercises are faster.
              2. The palm and wrist surfaces are wider, and specifically the latter is more reinforced, for greater support, protection and comfort.

Of course, there is not a single street that you can choose, but we hope that this guide will help you make a more accurate choice based on your needs and demands.
