The CrossFit season begins and as it could not be otherwise, it starts with the CrossFit Open 2022 that will take place from February 24 to March 14.

It is the competition par excellence in which the CrossFit community comes together to perform the same wods for three weeks (one wod per week), try to improve themselves and see their position in the world ranking.

What do you need for the three wods of the Open?

You don't need to buy all the Barbie or Ken crossfitter accessories , but there are five basic ones that can't go wrong for the Open and for everyday life in the box.

1. Crossfit shoes

If you don't have a pair of CrossFit shoes or think you need to change your Nanos or Metcons, now is a good time to buy a pair.

Why is it important to invest in crossfiter footwear?

The shoes designed for this sport are designed so that you can perform all the exercises without the need to change shoes in between. It is true that you are going to run better with specific running shoes and that you are going to lift weight better with weightlifting shoes, but you have to keep in mind that in a CrossFit competition time is ticking and every repetition counts.

It doesn't matter which brand you choose, just keep in mind that they have to be versatile shoes, neither too hard nor too soft, since you will have to run and lift kilos with them. They must favor the stability of your foot (especially in heavy exercises) and they will have to be light so that you can move easily (exercises such as box jumps, rope climbs or jump ropes will require this). .

2. Streets

One of the star exercises in the Open are the pull-ups, yes or yes, they fall every year, so the grips are an essential accessory in your backpack if you want your hands to be safe during the Open.

3. Jump rope

Jump ropes, whether double or single (depending on the category you are in) are a basic that does not fail in any Open.

Therefore, it is best that you have your own rope and get used to training with it. This way, when the moment of truth comes it will be much easier. Because? Because you will already have it adjusted to your height, you will already know how it works and you will have practiced your DUs with it to adapt your jumps and your speed.

You will save time and, above all, annoyance from getting stuck between jumps and losing concentration in the middle of the wod.

4. Knee pads

Knee pads are not essential, but they are a very useful accessory in CrossFit, especially due to the number of repetitions in the wods.

The heaviest movements are the ones where the joints suffer the most, so to protect them, without a doubt, they are the perfect complement. But also in exercises such as lunges or burpees if you don't want to end up with bruises on your knees (because yes, we are sure that there will be burpees, there are them every year).

5. Wristbands

And the same thing happens with wristbands . It is another very useful accessory that we recommend you have on hand in your CrossFit backpack, especially if you use thrusters, push presses, snatches or heavy jerks .

The wrists also suffer over time and the fatigue of a long wod and need protection to avoid tendonitis or tears.
