This is how we experienced the Dubai Championship 2018

After recovering from the emotions and, above all, the jet lag, we tell you how we experienced the Dubai CrossFit® Championship 2018 as the official sponsor of the first official CrossFit® competition for the 2019 Games.

Day 1: Check-in and Athlete Briefing

As part of PICSIL's work as an official sponsor , we participated in the check-in of the athletes and gave them personalized material for the competition.

Sara Sigmundsdottir, Willy George, Jamie Green and our flag bearers were very friendly as we explained how to use the grips and rope. I also did not draw attention to how many athletes were amazed by our material and many did not hesitate to share on their social networks stories of the rope with their name and the personalized pack that we prepared for them. It is these small details that fill us with happiness and encourage us to continue working hard. Furthermore, it was a luxury to have Hannah Caldas with us, and a success, because she knows many athletes personally and made very pertinent recommendations to them. Many appreciated his presence and that made them relaxed. In the afternoon, we help the athletes get their jump ropes ready, with the exact measurement and cutting the excess cable. The day ended with the briefing that lasted about 35 minutes. At the end we were able to do a photo session with Sam Briggs and Jen Smith with their new sandals and also the entire Team PicSil who were together for the first time (Lukas Esslinger, Adrian Mundwiler, Cassidy Lance and Jen Smith).

Day 2 and 3: Competition outside the stadium

As we told you in the competition summary , the first days took place at sea and in the desert . During these days, we would meet the athletes in the hotel hallways, in the elevator, in the pool, having breakfast or anywhere. The truth is that everyone was very close and friendly to us.

Day 4: Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium

The morning started strong. At noon we were able to enjoy a competition of affiliated pits in the stand area that left a lot of atmosphere in the place. At the PicSil stand, many curious people came to see and try the official handlebars and jump ropes of the Dubai CrossFit Championship. We spent two whole days saying, "No, we can't sell them." XD At 1:00 p.m. the official competition began inside the Dubai tennis stadium and the atmosphere was brutal, as could be seen on YouTube. Despite the magnitude of the competition, we felt at home. The people were very close and very nice. Everyone came to the PicSil stand wanting to take something.

Day 5: Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium

The last day of the competition was very similar to the previous day except at the PicSil stand where we had to put up the closed sign at 7:00 p.m. because we had sold everything. We are still amazed at the good reception at the Vendor Village. So we took advantage of this free time to encourage our athletes in the final stretch of the competition : Sam Briggs destroyed the last WOD and took the championship. Our hands still hurt from clapping. What can we say about the PicSil athletes in the competition? Sam Biggs: She's "The Boss" . At 36 years old and with his recent operation, he had a great championship. Proving that when she is in good shape she is one of the best athletes on the planet. BK Gudmundsson: A great championship finishing second. He finished all the WODs within the Top 7. The only downside to his perfect championship was the presence of Mat Fraser. You can't do anything when the triple champion is competing next to you. Team PicSil (Jen, Adrian, Lukas and Cassidy): They finished third and showed that they can hit very hard this year.

As for the other athletes of the Dubai CrossFit Championship, we highlight the Frenchman Willy George who continues to progress, slowly but surely. Each championship is a little better and even having some weaknesses such as the Rope Climb or the Hand Stand Walk, we dare to say that in the future it can put Fraser himself in a lot of trouble. We will follow her evolution during 2019. The young Polish woman Gabriela Migala could be the future Laura Horvath. At 19 years old, she has finished in the Top 10 along with long-time crossfitters. A true feat that shows that his sixth place in the 2018 Europe Regional was no coincidence. Sara Sigmundsdottir , to have a broken rib in August, has busted it; and Jamie Green , is another athlete who continues to progress little by little and who is going further and further. We will see in February what he can offer us at CrossFit® SiD in London. The athlete from whom many expected the most was Roman Khrennikov , who after winning the Europe Regional in Berlin, saw in him an athlete capable of threatening Fraser himself. But in Dubai his performance was much less surprising, he looked like an athlete rather than an alien. We will continue its evolution in 2019. From PicSil, we want to thank the Dubai CrossFit Championship® and CrossFit® for their trust in choosing us to be official sponsors of this competition.
