How have the PICSIL athletes turned out?
It is a great pleasure for us to have the talent of Adrian Mundwiler, Lukas Esslinger and Hanna Caldas as PICSIL 's standard bearers in the crossfit world. We have closely followed the exploits of our athletes in the Open and it is time to see how they have fared in the general classification.
Adrian Mundwiler
The 25-year-old Swiss reaches 148th place on the world leaderboard in the men's category. He is an athlete qualified for the 2018 Regionals, good news after his injury in last year's competition. Will we see you again at the CrossFit Games in Madison? We believe so.
Lukas Esslinger
The Swiss-based German is ranked 69th in the world and has qualified for the Regionals. This would be his fifth performance in the CrossFit Games semifinals and we hope to see him on the podium at the finals in Madison.
Hanna Caldas
Our ambassador has competed in the Open in the Masters 40-44 category. Her 210th place in the 2018 Open allows her to qualify for the Regionals and participate in this competition for the seventh time. We hope to see her in the final of the 2018 CrossFit Games and unleash all her power.
David Mata
Another great Spanish athlete who has been working in the shadows for years and who this year managed to qualify with the CrossFit Norte Redondela team. He finished the Open in 60th position in South Europe and 12th in Spain (a position he already achieved in 2016). We trust that your team will achieve one of the 4 places to go to the 2018 CrossFit Games.
What are the Regionals?
We take advantage of this article to remind you of the development of the Regional CrossFit Games . After the Open, the best athletes in the world qualify for the semifinals, which are divided into different regions of the world. Until this year, the Meridian zone brought together the 40 men, the 40 women and the 30 best teams from the European and African Opens. Given the largest participation of athletes from this area of the world, CrossFit HQ has decided to divide the Meridian area in two to create two competitions: Europe Regional and Meridian Regional. The Europe zone includes the fittest athletes from Northern Europe and Central Europe; while Meridian includes athletes from Southern Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Therefore, in Madrid we will see the best classified athletes from Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Switzerland and African countries . From this competition, the top 4 men, women and teams will go to the finals of the 2018 CrossFit Games in Wisconsin. But before the semis, the Masters and Teens will carry out their online qualification to achieve a place in the final.
